Dr. Gonzalez-Bellido is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at University of Minnesota. Her lab studies vision and behavior in flying predatory insects! One of the species she studies is the robber fly, which has been called the "top gun of the insect world."

Meet with next week's general biology seminar speaker, Dr. Yukiko Yamashita. Dr. Yamashita is the James Playfair McMurrich Collegiate Professor of the Life Sciences at the University of Michigan. Her lab seeks to understand the mechanisms that regulate asymmetric stem cell division — which are poorly understood and have implications for cancer and other diseases.

The PUSD public schools have a high proportion of students that are socio-economically deprived, have special needs or are in the foster care system.
